Course programme

Course Content

The course was formulated at the request of our ex-students who wished to support their clients throughout pregnancy, which they did not previously feel confident enough to tackle. As such, it has arisen from authentic 'field-conditions' and has proved extremely beneficial to those who have since used the techniques taught.

This course includes essential oil data for the use of Aromatherapists and the interest of non-Aromatherapists. Essential oils should not be used on these client groups unless you are a qualified Aromatherapist.

Aromatherapists will be issued with a Certificate of Qualification in 'Aromatherapeutic Pregnancy Massage'. Massage Therapists will be issued with a Certificate of Qualification in 'Pregnancy Massage'.

Topics addressed during this course include:

Practical:
  • Relaxing massage positions & specific massage techniques, including Shiatsu points & hand and foot reflexes, during pregnancy
  • Massage Sequence
Theory:
  • Essential oils - recipes for conditions - pre, during and post labour (for Aromatherapists only)
  • Stages of Pregnancy
  • Carriers & Flower Remedies
  • Legal Advice
  • Safety Precautions
  • Benefits of Massage During Pregnancy
  • Symphysis Pubis
  • Placenta Previa
  • Urticaria
  • Common Problems during Pregnancy
  • Hormones during Pregnancy
  • Respiratory & Digestive Tract during Pregnancy
  • Heart & Blood flow during Pregnancy
  • Recipes during Pregnancy (for Aromatherapists only)

Please note: This course is a Post-graduate qualification course, during which the student is assessed for competence. Students must successfully complete 3 practice sessions and submit case histories within 12 weeks of the course - before being issued with a Certificate of Qualification.
