Illustrative Content
Consider what values underpin our work with service users, including equality of opportunity

This section will allow the participants to consider the things they value in their everyday life; the impact of loss of the things they value; what are the common professional values we need to consider and how do we apply them in the workplace.

Issues around equal opportunities will be considered in exploring how stereotyping and prejudices effect service provision, especially when they become collective approaches adopted by organisations.

Apply good practice in communicating with service users

This section will explore what we mean by communication, the taken for granted nature of our communication processes and its effect on how we communicate with service users. Verbal, non verbal and behavioural communication will be explored alongside listen skills techniques to avoid assumptions about individuals and/or their circumstances. Record keeping will be considered in terms of the importance of evidence based recording and the impact of data protection legislation.
