This 1/2 day course serves as an introduction to the hazards and risks involved in the use of hazardous substances. It enables the user to understand the purpose and meaning of a COSHH assessment. It assists employees to develop safe techniques for the use of hazardous substances and an appreciation of the controls necessary in their use. Suitable for: People who use hazardous substances as part of their work and who require a better understanding of the regulations relating to their use

What you will learn
At the end of this course delegates will be able to:
- Explain what is meant by the term “substance hazardous to health” and give examples;
- Explain how hazardous substances can cause ill health and injury and give examples;
- State the different ways that hazardous substances can be identified
- State the principles for controlling hazardous substances and apply thesde in a practical context
- Demonstrate an understanding of the value of conducting a COSHH assessment and what an employee can expect of the assessment
- Demonstrate a understanding of the COSHH Regulations

The course covers the following topics:-
- Definition and types of hazardous substances found in the workplace
- Health effects of hazardous substances and their causes
- Routes of entry and possible exposures
- Coshh assessment and control options
- Responsibilities imposed by the COSHH Regulations
Course
CIEH Principles of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health A Level 1 Health and Safety Qualification.
This course is limited to 10 delegates and will include an assessment. This will be externally moderated and a pass Certificate will be issued by the CIEH to successful candidates.
An attendance certificate will be issued to any candidate who does not pass the assessment.
The Principles of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Training Course is limited to a maximum of 10 delegates.
This is a non-residential training course.
