About this course

You must be aged over 19 and have lived in the EU for the past 3 years and currently be living in England. There is a short initial assessment to complete to ensure the course is the right level for you. If you are aged 19-24 you must already hold a full level 2 qualification.

Course programme

Year 1

The qualification consists of the following four mandatory units:

Unit 1: Principles of the cause and spread of infection
Unit 2: Principles of the importance of personal hygiene and health in the prevention and control of infection in healthcare settings
Unit 3: Principles of decontamination, cleaning and waste management in healthcare settings
Unit 4: Principles of infection prevention and control in a healthcare setting.

Additional information

This qualification has paper or online recourses. If you have chosen paper resources you will receive a resource pack containing three textbooks and three workbooks with submission dates for each part. You are assessed on the answers you supply within the workbooks. This is a knowledge-based course and you will receive feedback on your answers and guidance on how to complete any resubmissions you might have. This could be via post or email. If you have chosen the online option you will receive a welcome email with your login details. All information is on the learning platform along with the assessment questions and once you have submitted the work your feedback will also appear on the platform. The support is available throughout from the distance learning team. There are no observations or exams.
