Course programme
This programme will not be running in the 2019/20 academic year.
Our MA programme is guided by a questioning stance, one which considers possibility and the creation of a sustainable future through the critical and creative exploration of a range of approaches to product design.
Our students are taught to be thinkers: to be aware of the issues, problems, developments and opportunities in the world around them, and of the current challenges facing people, society, business and the planet.
In this programme, you will use your initiative to generate useful, innovative, sustainable, thought-provoking and commercially-viable design solutions.
We encourage our postgraduate students to create visions and challenges to the way we live. We are educating not only problem-solvers but also opportunity-seekers, and we hope our students will become the designers, thinkers and makers who will positively shape the world we inhabit.
How will you be taught? We teach cutting-edge methods of design research, enabling our students to create new knowledge and discover unique, genuine problems and opportunities for design.
You will be taught how to apply a variety of research methods in order to fully explore and understand an area of investigation, and how to develop opportunities through an iterative design process into innovative, useful, sustainable and thought-provoking products.
Our teaching embraces the generation of original and experimental ideas and the creation of product prototypes in response to environmental, social, physical, psychological or economic needs and opportunities discovered through research.
