The post-compulsory education sector covers teaching and learning for people aged 14 upwards in a very broad range of organisations such as colleges, training organisations, vocational settings and local authority education centres. So there are some wide ranging opportunities for teachers and trainers in this sector. This in-service course provides the most recognised and established initial teacher training qualification for teaching in post-compulsory education. You might be a new teacher seeking to progress your introductory training, or about to start a teaching position. Alternatively you may already have been teaching in the sector and need to gain fully qualified status.
You will develop professional skills as a teacher in post-compulsory education, and apply theory to practice across a range of key areas such as planning sessions and assessing learners. You will reflect on your practice and receive support from tutors in order to become the best teacher you can be. Our teachers model good practice so you will learn through interesting and engaging activities in a lively classroom environment. You will have the opportunity to use a specially developed web folio of resources, where you can create your own personalised learning space. Tutors are highly qualified and have many years of diverse teaching experiences. This initial teacher training qualification attracts higher education credits which develop your academic skills to a high level. There are strong links made between learning in the classroom and your professional practice. Our philosophy is to support teachers in a holistic approach that facilitates their individual development.
