It offers you an opportunity to access degree-level studies through stand-alone modules and/or through credit accumulation. What you will learn
You will enhance your critical awareness of current issues within health studies and health and social care practice. You will develop an in-depth knowledge of a range of health and social care topics and the principles and theories which underpin them.
You will achieve high levels of proficiency in the key skills relevant to your personal and professional development planning needs including team skills, problem solving, numeracy, oral and written communication skills, and information and communication technology.
You will learn to take responsibility for the extension of your learning and to exercise independent judgement in the investigation, analysis and evaluation of health care fields that you perceive as relevant to your own practice and you will develop the confidence to apply your knowledge and reflect on experience in the independent critical analysis and evaluation of health and social care practice.
You will also learn about ethical principles, values and moral concepts inherent in health and social care practice; legislation and professional and statutory codes of conduct relevant to their practice, and understanding of health and social care delivery configurations; physical and psychological human growth and development and about the structure, function and dysfunction of the human body.
You will enhance your research skills and learn to develop evidence-based concepts and explanations from law, psychology, social policy and sociology. You will also gain an insight into public health principles and health education in your practice.
What you will studyYou will study the core compulsory modules of 1) Evidence Based Practice and Research Methodologies and 2) Research Proposal.
You will also study further optional modules. The number and choice of modules will be based on prior learning and experience and will be agreed with your tutor at interview and prior to the start of your course. The modules available from which you can choose include practical and theoretical study.
