This study programme offers a broad introduction to Travel and Tourism at Foundation level and aims to provide you with an understanding for further study in this subject area. The course has been developed in consultation with employers in the travel and tourism industry, so you can be sure that you are developing relevant skills for your future career. The qualification is equivalent to NVQ Level 1 and is widely recognised by industry and taught within a grade 1 award winning department.

About this course

Progression on to the City and Guilds Level 2 Extended Certificate in Travel and Tourism or other related Level 2 course, or to employment or apprenticeship training.

School Leaver age 16-18

This course provides a number of opportunities to experience the tourism industry at first hand through educational visits, visiting speakers, and the practical experience of our team of lecturers, all of whom have had many years working in various aspects of the Tourism industry. Job roles include travel agency apprentice, tourist information centre assistant and hotel reception - front of house.



You will need to achieve GCSE grade D-G (1-4) including English and maths or have successfully completed a Foundation Entry level 3 qualifcation and have achieved Entry Level 3 Functional Skill in English and maths. An active interest in the travel and tourism industry would also be desirable.
