Progression for Life is a programme for young people leaving a Specialist Residential, Special school or Mainstream school environment. It is aimed at meeting the needs of individuals who have a range of learning ability. What are the aims of the programme? The main aim of the programme is to support the transition from school, through college to future life. This is achieved by offering the opportunity for individualised learning within a group setting. Opportunities will be available to complete activities in both a class based and realistic setting i.e. using local community facilities.

Course programme

Transition to College. A set of one year programmes which are designed to assess the suitability of an individual for progression within a college environment. During the year, you will partake in a wide range of learning experiences throughout the curriculum including opportunities to link in with other programmes to prepare you to move on. You will work with skilled members of staff who will help you to focus on building your communication and transferable life skills and Somerset Total Communication is embedded in all sessions. Tutorial Curriculum You will have a Personal Tutor and Keyworker that you see every day who help with you learning. They will have regular contact with parents and carers and will advocate on your behalf both within the classroom and while using cross college facilities.
