Summary

Progressions is an accessible and inclusive course for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Progressions can be a progression route for students who have been on the Links course, or an entry course for students coming to us straight from school.

We have a varied timetable, which can be adapted to meet the needs of the students. Subjects include Cooking, Horticulture, Art, Travel Training, Community, Sport, Science and more. Maths and English are also a part of the timetable, and taught in a functional and enjoyable way, with an emphasis on the skills needed for the students to become more independent, and to move on to the next level of their education. Students can take their Functional Skills qualifications if this is appropriate to them, but it is not a requirement of the course.

We focus heavily on the individual needs and aspirations of our students, using personal targets and criteria based around building independence, work skills and progression. We strive to encourage our students to consider their future options and plan for realistic goals, making transition to the next step part of the course.

Students' needs are assessed prior to enrolment to ensure that their needs are met during their time with us. We have a wonderful team of experienced support staff who are extremely student focused, making sure that every student has the opportunity to participate in activities as much as possible. Students can be supported from the moment they arrive, throughout the day, including breaks, until they leave the college at the end of the day.

Progressions is a course designed to build confidence, motivation and independence skills, and we value each individual student. We want every student to feel empowered to build on their existing skills and become the best that they can be.
