The course is multi-disciplinary, the student body comprises creative professionals and practitioners from across the art and design economy. Project management will be taught through tailored provision of content with an emphasis on:
creative responses to working in differently scaled organisations;
negotiating with non-creatives, building and executing strategies for funding and marketing, creating business strategies in a cultural economy;
team building;
resource management;
risk assessment;
professional writing; and
developing a pragmatic understanding of the political, social and economic relationships between public, private, commercial and philanthropic organisations.

About this course
This course provides a tailored set of knowledge and skills development opportunities designed to equip graduates with project management capabilities.
You will study established project management techniques and approaches that will improve your ability to work or lead creative projects.
Areas of study and practice include people management, communication management, process management and business case development.
You will critically analyse the challenges of creative projects and understand the differences and simialrities between projects carried out in the creative industries and those in the wider economy.
The course includes studying for the internationally recognised AgilePM qualification.
The course includes a module on freelancing as a creative practitioner which develops skills of pitching, work flow management and basic accounting.
You will practice your growing knowledge through a computer simulation and a live project.
Creative careers are varied, full of change and frequently project based. Developing the skills to lead and design projects is therefore a huge advantage to art and design graduates and can provide a boost for mid-career creative practitioners seeking to develop their commercial and operational skills and understanding but needing to contextiualise their learning within the collaborative character of creative projects.
A BA(Hons) degree (or equivalent) in arts, design or have professional experience in the creative industries.
All candidates will be offered an interview, at the campus or via Skype. This is a two way conversation about the course contents, and the experience and ambitions of the candidate.
In addition to the award of an MSc Project Management, students will study for the internationally accredited AgilePM Practitioner certificate, which is accredited by the Agile Project Management Group. This widely recognised certification will further enhance the career prospects of the courses graduates. This degree is taught in the Department of Creative and Cultural Industries, part of Kingston School of Art.
