Our course draws upon the expertise of research and clinical psychologists to provide you with a unique education in the foundations of, and current issues in, the psychology of mental health. It is an ideal opportunity for those who wish to go on to study for a PhD in psychology or a doctorate in clinical psychology, as well as professionals working with children and adults. It is one of the only MSc courses in the UK on which you will be taught by clinical psychologists. Our students tell us they find the teaching and supervision contact with clinicians to be a key strength.

You’ll study advanced modules in the foundations of adult mental health and current issues in psychological health care, and one module of your choice from areas such as developmental psychopathology, evolution and behaviour, or social psychology. You will also learn advanced quantitative and qualitative research methods and will conduct a dissertation co-supervised by a member of academic staff and a clinical psychologist.

At Dundee, you will benefit from dedicated MSc social and study areas, an active student society, and will be taught by academic staff at the forefront of psychological research and clinical psychologists working in specialisms including forensic, child and adolescent, eating disorders, learning difficulties, addiction, primary care, older adult, and health psychology. You will have access to state of the art research equipment for, for example, tracking eye movements to measure attention, measuring brain activity, or conducting surveys and observational studies.

We are a small friendly department who offer focused teaching and research in psychology. This means that we get to know our students, and can provide them with the individual support they need throughout their studies.
