Course programme

This thought-provoking and highly stimulating single honours programme offers those with an interest in psychology an opportunity to explore the subject with a specialism in sport and exercise. The programme covers a wide and interesting range of psychological concepts in an attempt to understand, explain and in some circumstances, predict or modify human behaviour in a variety of situations, particularly those related to sport and physical activity. Students have access to an array of state-of-the-art equipment, to investigate and examine human behaviour. During the programme, they are immersed in a variety of teaching, learning and assessment environments (both real and virtual), such as large scale lectures and discussions, and small group seminars and online debates. The programme was born out of the long-standing and highly regarded BSc Psychology and BSc Sport and Exercise Science degree programmes, both of which have a historical tradition of excellence at Canterbury Christ Church University. The programme uses many core ideas and methods from these, combined with the recommendations from important external bodies (such as The British Association of Sport & Exercise Sciences (BASES) and the British Psychological Society (BPS)).
