Additional information

Teaching and Assessment Teaching Our approach We aim to deliver degree programmes that are innovative, effective, and informed by leading-edge research. We also recognise the value of relevant work experience, for both learning and employability, which is why we actively encourage our students to undertake work placements, both formal (assessed) and informal. We also take great pride in not just the quality of teaching, but also our extensive pastoral care for our students. Practical skills This course will help you to develop specific skills in the practical methods associated with psychology, generally; sport and exercise psychology, specifically; and physical activity in health contexts. A full range of laboratory and technical facilities is used in the teaching of experimental psychology, psychophysics and the use of information technology. Staff expertise Teaching staff are actively engaged in cutting-edge research, with international reputations in their field. Their innovative findings feed into your courses to ensure that your knowledge and learning are up-to-date. Our academics are also actively involved in internally-funded teaching and learning-related research projects e.g. Barriers and enablers for visually impaired students at a UK Higher Education Institution with the aim to continually improve our provision. How many hours of study are involved? Each module will involve 2-3 hours of contact time per week (e.g. in lectures, small group seminars, workshops and individual tutorials). You will also spend a great deal of your time in private study to become a fully independent learner. How will I be taught? You will be taught through a combination of lectures, seminars, practical sessions, laboratory workshops, guided reading, independent research, small group tutorials and individual supervision.
