Psychology with sociology is a dynamic and challenging discipline that is highly relevant to the challenges facing society today.

The course covers the core areas of psychology required by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a varied curriculum in sociology. As well as emphasising current issues, it will give you the opportunity to learn about the applications of psychology and sociology throughout the course.

Upon completion, you'll be accredited with Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) and be well prepared to take further professional training to become an accredited professional psychologist, or apply for a range of related careers in the social and welfare services, public health services and the media.

About this course

The course, combining the study of mind and behaviour with the study of society, allows you to develop a deep insight into human thought, action and behaviour.
You'll cover the fundamental, basic areas of psychology, alongside a more varied and encompassing curriculum involving issues and topics both current and historical, offering you challenging opportunities to learn about applications of psychology and sociology throughout their course.
The programme is an exciting opportunity for you to develop skills that will be transferable to the ‘real world' situation that you'll encounter after leaving university.

Graduates with a degree in psychology with sociology will be ideally placed in careers in central or local government, the media, human resources or any field where an understanding of society and human behaviour is advantageous.

112 points at A level including a minimum of two 6-unit awards at A level or equivalent. General Studies is accepted as a qualifying subject.
Alternatively, equivalent qualifications and experience will be considered.
Applications from students on BTEC or Access courses, applications from international students with relevant qualifications and applications from mature students without traditional qualifications are welcomed.

Upon successful completion of this course, graduates will be eligible for further training to become professional psychologists in any of the professional disciplines accredited by the BPS.
