There will be a chance to buy department kit which consists of a technical weatherproof jacket, polo shirt and hooded top. Some personal kit will also be essential, such as walking/sturdy boots. To make the course as practical as possible we ask for a 35 one off payment to cover transport to and from learning areas.
The Programme
This is a full time, nationally validated course which aims to prepare you for a wide variety of careers in Public Services including the Police Force, Fire Service, Ambulance Service, HM Customs, Prison Service, the Armed Forces, and Rescue Services.
The Programme Content
The main core programme will cover three units:
1. Uniformed Public Services Employment
2. Public Service Skills
3. Uniformed Public Service Fitness
Plus three additional units which include:
1. The Value of Sport and Recreation in the Public Services.
2. Land Navigation with the Map and Compass.
3. Expedition Skills
Progression / Careers
Students may wish to enter their chosen service or progress onto other advanced courses at the College such as Edexel (BTEC) National Diploma in Public Services (with the requirement that the First Diploma is passed with a Merit profile), Advanced or AS/A2 Levels.
