Qualified Persons cannot fulfil their role in a responsible way unless they understand the actions and uses of the medicinal products manufactured and those they are asked to certify. The course provides further understanding of product ‘fit for its intended use’.
This three day module takes major therapeutic categories as examples and together with some basic physiology, discusses the pharmacology of particular drugs used for those categories.
The lectures are provided through subject matter experts and supported by worked manufacturing and packaging examples and experiences provided by a QP.

Suitability
An essential course for most QP candidates, including those with a little prior knowledge of pharmacology. Provides a useful contribution to Continuing Professional Development for those wanting to learn more about medicinal products, especially those working in an operational environmental (full scale or clinical trial), QC and QA.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course you will have a thorough understanding of the following key topics and the drugs used to treat diseases associated with them:
- Pharmacology, Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics
- The autonomic nervous system, nerves and neurotransmission
- Pain and analgesia
- The cardiovascular system
- Infections
- The role of the kidneys and renal disease
- Skin disease
- Cancer
- Respiratory disease
The course will also provide an understanding of how medicinal chemistry can be used in the QP evaluation of deviations, product certification, cleaning, complaints and recall.
