Introduction

Recruitment mistakes are costly in time, money and stress. Matching a candidate to a job successfully is probably the most important function in any organisation and one which requires a broad range of interpersonal and analytical skills.

Objectives By the end of the Recruitment and Selection Programme, participants will be able to:
  • Examine recruitment and selection processes taking account of legislation affecting the employee and the workplace
  • Prepare the ground for the introduction of a systematic approach towards recruitment/selection interviews
  • Practice specific techniques of one to one and group interviewing and relate them to work place situations
  • Recognise personal styles and practices of interviewing, building on their strengths and overcoming perceived weaknesses
  • Recognise the importance of the interview situation and the cost to the company of a bad interview in the recruitment process
