Course programme

Red Hat Satellite provides an easy-to-use, advanced life-cycle management solution for Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems and customers. This delivers a key value add for those customers, and is often the first additional non-RHEL product sold into new customer accounts. Because of this, Satellite is a product with tens of millions of dollars of revenue and its adoption is strategically important to Red Hat. Satellite 6 is also a big step toward consolidation of Red Hat's Red Hat Enterprise Linux and cloud computing management solutions.

This course covers Red Hat Satellite 6, the latest major release of Red Hat Satellite, for the first time. This new release is a radical redesign of Satellite with a new architecture and interfaces. Even system administrators familiar with Red Hat Satellite 5 will require training on the updated product.

Most customers of Satellite operate deployments in the hundreds of systems and primarily use the software update management features of Satellite. This course is targeted at this major audience, but also introduces more advanced features such as system configuration management with Puppet in order to enable customers to use these more advanced features as they determine the need to do so.

It is expected that some delegates attending the course will be new to Satellite 6, but many will be existing customers developing proof of concept deployments or preparing for migration of their management systems from Satellite 5 to Satellite 6.
