Course programme
Programme structure and content
Participants have the choice to take part in one, two or all three weeks:
Week 1: 12. - 16.08.2013 Overview of Renewable Energies
Obtain a structured overview of the different renewable energy technologies by understanding their technical functionality, their economic viability as well as the possibilities and boundaries of their applications. During various site excursions to different renewable energy plants, participants will have the chance to have first-hand experiences while discovering their utilisation and discussing with plant operators.
Week 2: 19. - 23.08.2013 Wind power and Bioenergy
During this second week of RENAC’s summer school you will get in-depth knowledge of the technologies of wind and bio-energy. You will learn how the power of the wind is converted into electricity, what components a wind power plant is built of and the challenges when feeding the electricity into the grid. Regarding bioenergy, you will get an overview of the variety of bioenergy applications for both electricity or heat generation and gain an insight in different technologies and feedstock applied.
Week 3: 26. - 30.08.2013: Grid-connected and off-grid Photovoltaics
Learn more about photovoltaics for electricity generation as grid connected and off-grid systems. The training covers all aspects of planning, installation, maintenance, quality management and monitoring of both systems. Important non-technical issues like legal aspects, cast flow analysis and project management issues will also be discussed. The course combines theory with practical training in the Training Center and site visits.
