Course description
Study return to practice in facilities described by the Nursing and Midwifery Council as ‘a beacon for the future development of health education in this country’.
What you study
Key areas include • legislation and policies • record keeping and safeguarding. You also spend time on placement, where nurses and/or health visitors support your learning and assess your practice. The content and length of clinical practice depends on your individual learning needs, including the length of time you have been away from practice. You also study some theoretical aspects of practice which are assessed by a written assignment.
This programme brings together learners from a range of backgrounds, to study together, creating a vibrant, challenging and supportive learning experience.
Facilities
We provide modern facilities to help you develop clinical skills and specialist knowledge for your career. You study in our £13 million purpose-built Robert Winston Building at Collegiate Campus.
Placements and work experience
You spend time on placement, where nurses and/or health visitors support your learning and assess your practice. There will be a minimum of 187.5 hours (25 days) in clinical practice for those wishing to return to the adult, mental health or learning disabilities part of the NMC Register. For those wishing to return to health visiting you will undertake 187.5 hours (25 days) working with adult nurses to return to the adult section of the NMC Register. You also undertake a further 140 hours (20 days) working alongside a health visitor to return to return to the health visiting part of the NMC register.
Professional recognition
This course is approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). You must be registered with the NMC in order to practice as a nurse in the UK.
