Course programme

Introduces learning to good practise in the management of medicines and also regulatory and legislative requirements. Covers safe administration of medicines in terms of their issues or ingestion by care receivers and safe and appropriate disposal of medication.

The learning outcome is awareness of legislation uncluding patient rights. Obtaining, receiving, storing medication. Medication systems to eliminate mistakes. Personal responsibilities of carers. Increase specific medicines knowledge and sources of information on their use. Understand main administration routes of medicines. Disposal including return of 'controlled drugs'.
