Safeguarding vulnerable adults from abuse and exploitation is one
of the key responsibilities of care and support staff. As services
become increasingly focused on promoting independence, it is
important that staff are clear about their role in enabling choice,
whilst also meeting their responsibilities within Safeguarding Adult
procedures. The event focuses on some key questions:-
• Why does abuse and neglect occur?
• What might constitute abuse?
• What should staff do if they become aware of alleged abuse and
neglect?
Who for
Direct care and support staff working with people with learning
disabilities (though the course will also be of benefit to staff working
with other groups of people).
