Course programme

This is now a mandatory requirement. All SIA License holders will be required to undergo this 1 day update training and encompasses skills to help the operative to defend themselves and be more proactive and safe at work. This one day Level 2 Standalone course compromises of 2 units:
• Unit 1 - Safety Awareness for Door Supervisors
• Unit 2 - Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Operative Who is this qualification for? The Level 2 qualification is designed for those who are currently SIA license holders; and is awarded to those who pass a practical demonstration covering physical intervention skills, developed to help the operative be effective and safe at work. This nationally recognised qualification is the industry standard and enables a licensed operative to meet the new required standard set by the SIA. Are there any exemptions to this qualification? There are many programs out there unfortunately the SIA have approved only a few.

Please contact us on 0208 901 7679 for more details. Other than these exemptions there are no other exemptions to this standalone qualification. We have realised that for a long time now it has been professionally recognised that in some work environments, Physical Intervention Skills are needed to reduce the use of High Risk Techniques that will also improve staff and customer safety. Depending on your work environment, this could involve anything from avoidance and disengagement, to rescue, escort and holding skills. We at AMBA Training are also aware of the medical implications and legal advice on the use of force if these are not undertaken in a professional and correct manner. The use of non-Physical strategies must be achieved where practicable, however the use of Physical Intervention may have to be used as a last resort. The key areas the course will cover are as follows: • Disengagement Skills. We will look at how our staff can help to reduce the risk of assault through non-physical measures, and be able to avoid different forms of assault by adopting correct positioning, and their manner of approach. We will look at how they can disengage from the most common types of assault they are likely to come across in their roles as Door Supervisors. • Holding. Due to the nature of the job for Door Supervisors, they may have to legitimately use force, to take hold of or physically escort a person off the premises. We will teach staff the holds used to protect then and also to avoid discomfort and pain to the individual. • Understand physical interventions and the legal/professional implications of their use
• Understand how to reduce the risk of harm when physical intervention skills are used
• Be able to use non-aggressive physical skills to protect self and others from assault
• Be able to use non-pain related standing holding and escorting techniques, including non-restrictive and restrictive skills
• Understand good practice to follow after physical interventions The public will benefit from better trained door staff as new rules come into effect.
