The Programme
A stimulating course that focuses on the Science that is in the news and on the ethical issues Science raises in today's society. Designed to appeal to both scientists and non-scientists alike. 40% coursework.
The Programme Content
The course comprises of two units, Exploring key scientific issues exam and Reading and writing about science coursework.
Unit 1: 60% of AS, focuses on understanding of Ethical issues in Medicine, Health & Disease and the debates regarding the mechanisms of Evolution. Also understanding the Universe and Effects & Uses of Radiation.
Unit 2: 40% consists of two pieces of coursework:
A study of a topical scientific issue.
A critical account of scientific reading.
