Second Steps in IT

Course Aims:
This course will enable candidates to:
* learn how to communicate information by using a combination of graphics and text. They will be able to use a range of functions to display information effectively.
* use different electronic sources to search for information eg Internet, menus and databases.
* send, receive and reply to emails and produce emails that contain both text and images.
* use Excel software to create bar charts, pie charts and line graphs by entering data and selecting data to create an appropriate graph/chart.

Course Content:
There are four different areas of assessment:

UNIT 1 - DISPLAYING INFORMATION USING ICT
Creating posters by entering text, using display features and importing and manipuating images.

UNIT 2 - USING ICT TO FIND INFORMATION
Using key words to search for specific information on the Internet. Searching menus and querying databases.

UNIT 3 - COMMUNICATING INFORMATION USING ICT
Sending, receiving, replying, printing out and deleting emails. Importing and attaching an image to an email.

UNIT 4 - PRODUCING CHARTS USING ICT
Inputting information to create 3 types of charts/graphs. Attach headings and axis labels to charts/graphs.

CLAIT Diploma, ECDL Foundation - IT Users Certificate L1/L2

Awarding Body:
OCR

Exam:
Four assessments completing during class.

Qualification:
OCR Entry Level Certificate in Using ICT (Entry 3)
