Set it Up: starting your digital consultancy – the basics
This two-session course will give you all the practical knowledge you need to establish your own digital consultancy to make sure you’re able to concentrate on doing what you do best, and not worrying about which tax forms you need.
NB: This course takes place over two evenings, 6.30-8.30pm.
So, you’re going it alone as a consultant in the digital industry. Good for you! You have a few clients, or some prospects, you know your trade and you’ve got great skills. But how about the business side of things? Do you know whether you want to set up as a limited company – whether it could save you money and what the other financial implications are? How about expenses, and knowing what you’re reasonably allowed to claim for and what might be a bit too cheeky?
Whether you need to know what documents you need to keep for bookkeeping or what to look for in choosing an accountant, this course will give you all the practical knowledge you need to establish your own digital consultancy to make sure you’re able to concentrate on doing what you do best, and not worrying about which tax forms you need.
The course will cover:
- Ltd company or sole trader? The tax explanations of each, the benefits and costs.
- Getting organised – what to do, when and for who.
- Book-keeping requirements and systems explained in detail.
- What to get from your tax advisor, book-keeper and accountant; ways to ensure you get the best service for you.
- Dealing with the authorities – practical guide to tax forms, paper and all that stuff we all love to hate – setting up, VAT returns and PAYE (including software reviews).
This course is a perfect introduction to setting up your new business, or formalising the freelance work you’ve already been doing. It feeds perfectly into our upcoming half-day session: ‘Step it Up: get your business out of a recession & win new business in 10 days’.
There is no discount price for this event - it is already being produced at cost only.
