Course programme
The Security Industry Authority (SIA) recognises that it is essential for all CCTV (Public Space Surveillance) operators to have undergone a structured programme of training if they are to carry out their role effectively and professionally and this qualification provides candidates with the basic knowledge and understanding of the industry. Successful completion of the qualification will enable candidates to apply for a licence to practise which will enable them to work within the CCTV (Public Space Surveillance) industry. The qualification is awarded on successful completion of three units:
- Working in the Private Security Industry
- Working as a CCTV Operator
- Practical Operation of CCTV Equipment
This qualification, which is regulated by Ofqual and is worth 4 credits, follows the SIA’s new specification. The unitised structure reduces overlap between subject areas making it easier for learners to gain qualifications for additional sectors (Door Supervision, Security Guarding etc) as they will only need to sit the additional units.
