Trainer/Course co-ordinator

Your lead trainer and course designer was a trainer and course co-ordinator with the Royal Military Police Close Protection Unit. He has front line Close Protection experience both Operationally and in a training capacity all over the world. He has deployed with Diplomatic Missions, Military and High Profile executives and had a real understanding of the entire spectrum of Close Protection and will impart as much of this knowledge as you require.

Course programme

OUR TRAINERS ARE CURRENTLY DEPLOYED IN HOSTILE ENVIRONMENTS PROVIDING YOU WITH THE MOST CURRENT AND UP TO DATE TRAINING TACTICS AND PROCEDURES

Close Protection is a skill that must be transferable to any environment. The SOS Close Protection Course is modelled on the British Royal Military Police Close Protection Course and incorporates both the ‘softer skills’ and hostile environment training.

We believe that training for all situations and environments means a better trained operator. As experienced trainers, operators and managers, we do not understand the distinction between hostile and non – hostile, after all if you are carrying out CP duties we would suggest there is some form of threat of hostility. We aim to train you to the highest standard and prepare you to work anywhere in the world with the same degree of professionalism.

You may find yourself up against EFP (exposively formed projectiles) on the oil fields of Iraq, armed with an entire range of weapon systems or in an armed protection role in South America armed with only a pistol or in Africa or the UK with no weapons available to you – either way your strategic and operational planning should be at the same level and your personal conduct and professionalism the envy of those around you.We will not waste valuable training time doing endless lessons.

We aim to put you into role as soon as possible and learning from mission planning and execution throughout the time you are on the course.

Our firearms package emulates the RMP Longmoor package and you will be scored systematically throughout and work from basic static drawing from a holster and engaging the target to full team drills with assault rifles, incorporating all of the skills you have been taught. What you gain is a professional ethos and outlook on Close Protection that will put you ahead of your counterparts in the same field. You will learn from Current Operators and Close Protection instructors that are taking time from the circuit and will give you first hand knowledge of life ‘out there’ and useful hints and tips on what prospective employers are looking for and how to enhance employability.

We do not hire ex soldiers that have simply passed a BTEC course to conduct close protection training - courses will always be directed by ex - Longmoor instructors to ensure quality management.

We are Close Protection operators and as such our ethos is to extract and not to conduct Special Forces raids or Infantry style assaults. Course ContentIn addition to the BTEC Level 3 CP award you will also be able to gain the relevant medical qualifications that are required to make you a Tier 1 CP Medic and we enhance this with scenario training whilst conducting your CP course (FPOS-I can be acheived by staing an extra 2 days at extra cost if required. Medical, weapons, protocol, surveillance and driving skills are never mutually exclusive of each other in CP which is why we are the only provider that can officiate over medical, CP and surveillance scenarios combined.

Most providers will teach you the CP and send you elsewhere for medical training. Our instructors are extremely qualified in all areas to do all of this combined. The training is not diluted with combined skills training, but we have to understand that students do not have the 9 weeks available plus a further 4 weeks pre deployment that a RMP Close Protection Officer receives – therefore our extremely experienced training team has taken the elements most appropriate and carefully planned a schedule to enable the most productive amount of training in the most realistic time frame.

This course is suitable for all environments including the UK, but it is designed to be multi purpose and include firearms. It is extremely arduous mentally and physically and you will regularly be fatigued. The days are long and there will be some night work. The course programme is designed to be fluid. Do not expect to be sitting in a classroom watching powerpoint lessons.

Your training will be centred around real scenarios that have happened to Close Protection Teams and CP Operators on the ground and therefore will be realistic and extremely enjoyable. By the end of the first full day you would have conducted a Bodyguard exercise which will be the benchmark for you to improve upon.

This is because with over 50 years experience between the training and recruiting of bodyguards and operational planning of CP teams we know how to get the best of operators in the shortest amount of time and what is really important (and what is not).
