ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
None - just the want to improve your skills in either English or maths and has not passed a GCSE at grade C or above.
WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
Anyone who feels their skills in English and/or maths could be improved. This will depend on the individual and will cover a wide range of needs. For example you may have most of the skills needed to pass an Adult Skills for Life qualification but just need to "brush up" in certain areas e.g. fractions or punctuation or you may wish to start with the basics and then progress e.g. division or sentence structure.
The course caters for Entry Level (Pre GCSE), Level 1 (GCSE D-G) and Level 2 (GCSE A*-C)
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
The English course covers Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing at Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2.
The maths course covers Number, Measuring Shapes and Space and Handling data at Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2.
HOW WILL I LEARN?
Class sizes are small on average about 10 learners per class and are held at a variety of venues around the Island. A variety of teaching methods will be used to meet the different learning styles of the learners. Your individual goals and targets will be discussed with your tutor and work will be at your own pace to ensure that they are met.
WHAT CAN THIS COURSE LEAD TO?
The course will lead to a City and Guilds qualification in either Literacy (English) or Numeracy (Maths) and the appropriate level for you which can be taken at any point during the course.
