Our Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) is aimed at site managers, agents and people who already are, or are about to become, responsible for planning, organising, controlling, monitoring and administering groups of workers.

It covers all the relevant legislation and other issues that affect safe working in the construction, building and civil engineering industries. The course emphasises the importance of risk assessments in the workplace and highlights the need for suitable control measures and effective communication to help maintain safety standards among the workforce.

About this course

The course is assessed by exercises, a case study and an end of course exam. In order to pass and get a certificate, delegates must also attend all the sessions in the correct sequence. If this is not possible, they must enrol on a new course and retake the full five-day training programme.

SMSTS training certificates are valid for five years. However, due to changes in technology, the law, environmental management and cultural behaviour, it is recommended that refresher courses are undertaken within three years. Note that we also offer the SMSTS Refresher Course.

About the course: I have undertaken IOSH Health & Safety courses in General Risk Assessment and Manual Handling. I am myself a trainer, but must appreciate the trainer Johan Basson, who is brilliant at his job and provided 100%support.The Venue for the course was at hotel locted in central London had perfect ambience.I highly recommend Phoenix to everyone.Big Thanks to Johan.

Aims and Objectives

The course teaches delegates to:

  • Manage safety on site in accordance with the law and within the context of their management or supervisory role
  • Develop an understanding of responsibilities and accountability for site health, safety and welfare
  • Recognise that a safe site is efficient, economical and productive

At the end of the training programme, delegates will able to:
