Social Care (at Bromley College), Foundation Degree - 2016/17

This Foundation degree (FD) programme is a work-based programme which means you work and learn at the same time. You will develop the effective use of knowledge, skills and core values that are relevant to future work or study in both social care and social work. It is designed to prepare people for active participation in the caring field or related career and has been designed with a perspective of practically-oriented higher-education which will ensure students are work-ready, employable and which also fully recognises the importance of the development of students’ interpersonal skills in this specialist field. It is a two-year programme accredited by Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) but studied for at Bromley College, and successful students have the option to continue their studies to BA Honours level for a third 'top-up' year here at Bromley College or at CCCUs own campus. This programme has been designed to enable students to engage critically with the discipline of social care through their practice placements which will offer a unique training opportunity. Satisfactory completion of the practice placements in an approved setting may, in some cases enable progression to undergraduate social work programmes in year 2 or 3.
