About this course
Experience in working with children and families will usually be required. Examples could include work in children's homes, nursery nursing, probation, community or mental health work. Voluntary work experience may be acceptable, providing that this has been extensive enough to demonstrate your suitability for this type of work.

The course duration is 3 days of theory and from 4-6 weeks volunteer work placement within your local borough. The price is £325.00
Social services assistants support qualified social workers in helping, protecting and advising a wide range of people in the community, hospitals and other settings.
As a social services assistant, you could work with a variety of client groups, including:
- families under stress
- older people
- people with physical or learning disabilities
- people with mental health problems
- children at risk

After you fill in the application and CRB forms, we will proceed with your CRB (Crime Record Bureau Check) application. Please note that even volunteers are not allowed to start their placement without valid CRB.
