Sociology: AS and A2 Level
Sociology is the study of society: the attempt to understand human behaviour through the influences which act upon each one of us, such as the mass media, education system and family background. Some questions sociologists ask are: How does society shape our lives? Does the mass media influence people? Why do people commit crime?

Course details
Students take two units at AS and this is followed by a further two units at A2.

How is it assessed?
All units are assessed by written examination.

Course duration
One year at AS level. One year at A2 level.

What do I need to study this subject?
You should have five GCSE grades A*-C, including English Language.

Where can this lead me?
Sociology is a useful subject as it covers the whole of social life. Most students go on to university, and develop skills in analytical and critical thinking useful in many careers including: law, personnel, social work, police, probation, social research, journalism, teaching, management and local government.
