Knitting - Sock

Socks are such an elegant piece of construction for something so everyday. Once the basic skills are mastered it is a perfect project for slipping into your bag for knitting in the go. It is also a beautiful small canvas for experimenting with patterns, textures and colours as well as alternative constructions.

Week 1:

In week 1 you will learn the basic anatomy of the sock and familiarize yourself with knitting in the round on double pointed needles.

Week 2 :

In Week 2 you will learn how to turn the heel. This includes the reinforced heel flap, short row shaping to form the heel cup, picking up stitches and decreasing to form the gusset.

Week 3 :

In Week 3 we will close the toe and celebrate our success. There will also be the opportunity to explore next steps in sock knitting and the variety of more advanced techniques available to the enthusiastic sock knitters.

Written material will be provided for all classes along with loads of examples and tips for enjoyable sock knitting.

Classes are held in the shop with a maximum of 7 students per class.

Jane was taught to knit at the age of 4 by her grandmother so can't really remember a time she didn't have a set of needles in her hand. She is an experienced teacher and designer in her chosen niche - sock and mitten knitting.

Cancellation Policy

Full refund of deposit will be given for cancellations made up to 2 weeks prior to the first day of scheduled class. After this time, refunds will be given only if the spot can be filled by another student. Please be considerate.
