Attendance on the Solaris Introduction and Solaris System Administration - Part I courses or similar knowledge is required.  Shell Programming knowledge is beneficial, but not essential.  This skill can be gained by attending the Solaris Shell Programming course.

Delegates:
System Administrators and anyone who currently has experience in basic administration on Solaris and requires to extend their skills to use the more advanced features. This course prepares delegates for the Sun Certified System Administrator Part II exam.
Objectives:

On completion of this course the delegate should be able to administer Solaris using specific advanced features of the system. Note:
Exams are not included as part of the course. Before taking any exam, delegates must ensure they have the recommended experience.

  • Basic Networking and Configuring Network Devices
  • Managing Disk Space in the Solaris Volume Management environment using the Solaris Management Console and standard commands
  • Managing Swap space
  • Configuring and Managing the NIS Network Naming Service
  • Control of remote File Systems with NFS
  • Configuring a DNS Server and Client
  • Configuring an LDAP Client
  • Setting up the JumpStart facility to automate installation
  • Managing Flash Archives for recovery procedures
  • Managing the System and Program Dump file environment
  • Managing system event logging with syslog
  • Controlling access to files and directories using ACLs
  • Allocating system tasks to users using Role Based Access Control (RBAC)
  • Introduction to Zones
Requirements:
Attendance on the Solaris Introduction and Solaris System Administration - Part I courses or similar knowledge is required. Shell Programming knowledge is beneficial, but not essential. This skill can be gained by attending the Solaris Shell Programming course.
