What are the entry requirements?

Writing: You can present relevant information in a format that suits your purpose; structure your writing to help readers follow and understand your main points; spell, punctuate and use grammar accurately; construct complex sentences and make your meaning clear.
Interpret information: You can read and understand tables, charts, graphs and diagrams; read and understand numbers used in different ways; estimate amounts and proportions; make accurate observations and select appropriate methods to get the results you need. Carry out calculations: You can carry out calculations involving two or more steps, with numbers of any size, with and without a calculator; work with and convert between fractions, decimals and percentages; convert measurements between systems (e.g. pounds to kilograms); work out areas and volumes; work out dimensions from scale drawings; use proportions and calculate ratios where appropriate; compare sets of data of an appropriate size and use range to describe the spread within sets of data.

Progression routes may include freelance playing and writing of music, professional sessions employment or the creation of your own music promotions business.
What will I study?
You will study in a range of different ways, in classrooms, in studios and in auditoriums. You will study areas of composition writing, song writing, playing your instrument, using technology to enhance your musicianship, popular music as a business and popular music as a part of culture.
How will I be taught?
You will be taught by a range of professional musicians who are also committed to supporting new talent within education. You will be taught through demonstrations, technical instruction and specifically planned exercises to help improve your instrument playing technique. You will also be taught in group seminars, group lectures and through your own individual one to one sessions with lecturers.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through the observation and recording of your creative writing skills and in performance by your lecturer or assessors. You will be assessed through formative tests and through the writing up of your research and analysis of the popular music industry and popular music history and culture.
