To prepare students to sit the GCE Advanced level examination (Edexcel) in June. The aim of this course is to develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills and to enable students to use the language for practical communication at an advanced level.

Term dates: 25 Sept 18 – 28 May 19 (33 weeks):

Term 1 (12 wks): 25/09/18 - 11/12/18 (+ Sat 03/11/18, 12.30-15.30)

Term 2 (13 weeks): 17/01/19 - 11/04/19 (+ Sat 23/02/19, 12.30-15.30)

Term 3 (5 weeks): 02/05/19 - 28/05/19 (+ Sat 25/05/19, 12.30-15.30).

Course programme

A wide variety of themes and contemporary issues in Spain and Spanish-speaking countries will be used as a basis for general language work. The exam consists of reading, listening and writing papers (including essays), and an oral examination.

The course is based on the communicative approach: - active students’ interaction - emphasis on speaking and listening skills - pair and group work - role plays - use of realia, pictures and authentic material - use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate Please note, students are expected to participate in oral classroom activities and to do some homework as and when required.
