Spirometry is the most common of the Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs) that measure lung function, specifically the amount (volume) and/or speed (flow) of air that can be inhaled and exhaled. Spirometry is an important tool for generating pneumotachographs, which are helpful in assessing conditions such as asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, cystic fibrosis, and COPD.

Spirometry is only useful as a screening technique where uniformity and quality of practice exist. Without a thorough understanding of the principles involved, the methodology, the effects of the disease on lung function and the interpretation of results, it is difficult for practitioners to be confident and competent in practice.

During our Spirometry training course for Nurses you will learn about spirometry, respiratory conditions and how to manage these conditions appropriately while taking into account national guidelines. The training covers appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment options, the psychological aspects of COPD, restrictive respiratory disease and its management, patient self-management strategies and how to equip patients with the knowledge and confidence to recognise their symptoms.

Our Spirometry for Nurses training course has a recommendation rate of 100% and is accredited by the Royal College of General Practitioners. On completion, delegates will be awarded with a certificate of completion and 12 CPD points.

All Annie Barr Associates clinical courses are led by trainers who are qualified healthcare professionals with a wealth of clinical and teaching experience. Non-clinical courses are delivered by suitably qualified and experienced professionals who are experts on the subject matter.

Please note: This is a two day course. Delegates are asked to arrive at the venue for registration at 9.30am each day. The training will take place from 10.00am - 4.00pm.
