The FD (Science) Sport and Exercise Science aims to equip you with the knowledge, understanding and practical skills required for success in current and future employment in multi-billion pound sport and recreation industry. The course is also designed to help individuals progress onto further study. After successful completion of the course, you can progress onto the BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science degree at the University of Wolverhampton. To help you achieve either further study or employment, the course aims to provide relevant vocational experience, the development of study skills and training in the use of various technologies used to study sport and exercise.

About this course


A graduate of this course will be able to:

recognise the contribution made to our understanding of sport and exercise by applying core disciplines in the sport and exercise sciences to real-life situations
use various technologies to study and promote sport and exercise
communicate knowledge of sport and exercise sciences to various populations regionally, nationally and internationally.
utilise key subject specific skills to progress successfully onto studying the BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science degree at the University of Wolverhampton, or to pursue employment.

Course programme

You will develop a sound understanding of how the body functions and moves, how and why people behave as they do, and how to enhance performance.

You will study introductory modules in core sport and exercise science subjects, an introduction to research and technology, and work experience, all of which are designed with the aim of developing practical and problem-solving skills.

During year 2, the focus is on further developing your sport and exercise science skills, applying these skills to work situations and designing a research project.
