About this course

By the end of the course, you will be able to;
Progress from a fitness instructor to work unsupervised as a certified personal trainer,
Offer 1-2-1 fitness training,
Carry out baseline fitness assessments, including functional movement and posture,
Provide general nutritional advice,
Deliver the latest cardiovascular and resistance training methods using a variety of equipment;
Develop confidence using kettlebells, resistance bands and Olympic barbells (blended learning course only) and,
Provide progressive advanced programming specific to the needs of the client.

The course intended for instructor who already have a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification

Course programme

By the end of the course, you will be able to;

  • Progress from a fitness instructor to work unsupervised as a certified personal trainer,

  • Offer 1-2-1 fitness training,

  • Carry out baseline fitness assessments, including functional movement and posture,

  • Provide general nutritional advice,

  • Deliver the latest cardiovascular and resistance training methods using a variety of equipment;

  • Develop confidence using kettlebells, resistance bands and Olympic barbells (blended learning course only),

  • Deliver outdoor fitness sessions that are unique and entertaining for 1-2-1 and bootcamps, and

  • Provide progressive advanced programming specific to the needs of the client.

Topics covered on the course include;

  • Level 3 Anatomy & Physiology relating to exercise programming for a range of clients;

  • Long term behavioural change;

  • Screening and collecting client information;

  • Identifying and agreeing nutritional and exercise goals;

  • Managing a personal training programme - keeping records, measuring, adapting and reviewing;

  • Effectively instructing a personal training session;

  • Principles of nutrition to support client goals;

  • Analysing nutritional information and food diaries

Entry Requirement: A recognised Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification.

MANDATORY UNITS

Unit 1 - Anatomy & Physiology - assessed via a multiple choice exam

Unit 2 - Applying The Principles Of Nutrition - assessed via a multiple choice exam

Unit 3 - Programming Personal Training With Clients - assessed via a worksheet and case study

Unit 4 - Delivering Personal Training Sessions - assessed via a worksheet, programme cards, practical assessment and self-evaluation.
