Aim
This 1 year course is a practical work related course introducing you to the employment area of sport and recreation. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.

Content
This qualification is made up of two core units and four specialist units.
All students take the core units:
· The Sports Industry
· The Body in Sport.

The four specialist units are:
· Practical Sport
· Fitness for Sports Performance
· Sports Leadership Skills
· The Sports Industry.
You will also complete a specific sports leadership qualification. All units are assessed, graded and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded.

Progression/career opportunities
This qualification offers students who gain a pass, a progression route into employment within the sports industry. If you want to continue with your studies you could move on to the National Award, Certificate but you must gain a merit distinction overall in the BTEC First Diploma in order to progress to the Natural Award/Certificate.

Screening
Students will also be screened (in the College) and must achieve literacy and numeracy at the level appropriate to the course.
