About this course
You will need to have at least one of the following: a BTEC First Diploma in Sport at Merit with a GCSE grade C English or Maths; or at least five GCSEs grade C including English, Maths and Science. It is important that you are involved in playing regular competitive sport.

About the Course
This is a two-year course of eighteen units looking at training, coaching and fitness testing.

* Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise
* Training and Fitness for Sport
* Leadership in Sport
* Psychology for Sports Performance
Year 2
* Instructing Physical Activity and Exercise.
* Organising Sports Events.
* Sports Coaching.
* Sports Injuries.
* Practical Individual Sports.
* Rules, Regulations and Officiating in Sport.
* Work Experience - 2 Weeks.
* Sports Development.
* Exercise for Specific Groups.
We recommend that you take Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership or Award in Coaching Studies to supplement the course. In year 2 there is the option to take the courses in Massage and Fitness Instructor.

What are the entry requirements?
How is the course assessed?
All 18 units are assessed and graded through written assignments, each unit is graded at pass, merit or distinction. An overall grade for the qualification is awarded which is equivalent to three A Levels at the end of two years.
Fees
No Course Fees for Under 19's. Over 19's must pay, or claim Level 2 or Level 3 Entitlement for FREE courses .
What next?
You may progress to higher education to study for a degree in a sports-related subject, or you may go directly to employment in sport, leisure and related areas.
