Our Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) courses are aimed at people who have, or are about to acquire, supervisory responsibilities. The qualification gives supervisors an understanding of health, safety, welfare, environmental and legal issues. It serves to highlight the importance of promoting safety in order to supervise in an effective manner.

The training programme is endorsed by the United Kingdom Contractors Group as the standard course for all supervisors who work on UKCG sites.

Those who complete the course may want to progress to the five-day Site Management Safety Training Scheme course. For example, existing site managers, agents, surveyors and managers should consider this extra training.

About this course

Delegates gain certification by completing multiple-choice questions at the end of the course. They are also expected to be interactive during the course and they must attend both training sessions. Without full attendance, the certificate cannot be awarded. Delegates must also attend the sessions in order. When this does not occur on consecutive days, it must happen within two weeks. Those who are unable to do this due to extenuating circumstances (such as sickness) have to enrol on a new course and attend both days again.

Certificates are valid for five years. However, because of changes in technology, environmental management, cultural behaviour and legislation, it is recommended that refresher courses are taken within three years.
