About this course

Create an image onto a metal plate for etching
- Use a variety of grounds to produce line, texture and tone on an etching plate
- Etch your design into metal
- Prepare paper for intaglio printing
- Ink up and print your processed etching plate
- Safely use an etching press to print plates in the intaglio method
- Identify and appreciate results of different applications and the possibilities of working with etching processes.

Course programme

You will learn basic intaglio techniques including hard ground, soft ground and aquatint to produce line, tone and texture in your images.

Demonstration and practical application supported by written instructions. One-to-one and group discussion. Basic materials will be provided. Please bring sketches, photographs or other visual resources as a starting point to the first session.
