On this practical course you will learn why professional film makers and animators use both storyboards and animatics to plan, communicate and gain funding for their projects. You will learn the terminology of different camera framing, angles and movement and how to represent your film idea as both a series of still images and a moving image animatic.

- Draw and annotate a storyboard using different camera framing and movements
- scan a basic storyboard into Photoshop cc
- animate the storyboard in Photoshop CC to create a basic animatic
- export an animatic as a QuickTime movie.
Our high definition cameras and the latest professional equipment and software are available for your use throughout the course. It would be useful to bring a memory stick if you would like to take your work home with you (or portable hard drive – please note PC formatted hard drives can be read by Apple mac computers, but not written to.).
You will be taught using a range of techniques including workshops, short lectures, demonstrations, practical exercises, tutorials, group and individual assistance and hand-outs. Please note the City Lit uses Apple Mac computers in Animation, Cartooning, Digital arts, Film, Graphics, Illustration, Photography and Web design.
