This study trip is an opportunity to look at the Golden Age of Dutch Art – the seventeenth century – through its paintings, buildings, and artefacts. We will spend two days in the beautifully preserved city of Amsterdam, including a full day at the Rijksmuseum, home of Rembrandt’s iconic ‘Night Watch,’ where we will look at the different genres of Dutch painting of this period including landscape, genre, history painting, and still-life.
We will visit the Rembrandt House museum, the artist’s home and studio, and see demonstrations of paint-mixing and/or etching techniques. We will also visit the Hermitage and the Van Loon canal house. On day 2 we will travel to the Hague to visit the Mauritshuis.
Please note: The course fee covers three full days of guided visits and all entrances to museums. It does not include flights, accommodation, meals, travel insurance etc. which you will be required to book independently. You must purchase valid travel insurance.
