Subtraction Pattern Cutting with Julian Roberts: One Day Masterclass

In this one day subtraction pattern cutting course you will explore and experiment with a unique method of hollow construction as developed and taught by designer Julian Roberts.

This pattern cutting technique, known as 'subtraction cutting' or 'zero waste', makes the most of the negative spaces that can be opened up in fabric and falls somewhere between traditional pattern cutting and draping - resulting in experimental garments that break from the boundaries of the usual garment shapes.

Through a series of live demonstrations, critiques, workshops and presentations you will create and take home your own subtraction cut garment of your choice.

Level:

Intermediate/Advanced. You will need some pattern cutting experience along with good sewing skills to get the most out of this course, and a willingness to work fast to a strict deadline.
