About this course
Many students use this Foundation Degree as a route into teaching. The programme gives you 240 credits and you may progress to the BA (Hons) in Education and Professional Practice. You may then wish to go onto a primary PGCE.
Typically, you will work in a school as a teaching assistant. You may wish to use the course as a chance to carry on working as a teaching assistant while you study and you may wish to go into teaching later.

GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above or equivalent Level 2 qualifications;
You'll provide a supporting letter;
You'll be working at least 10 hours as a TA with at least one year’s experience in a primary school (for at least 6 hours a week).

Course programme
You will study how children learn and you will develop your knowledge about behaviour management and inclusion. You will learn about a variety of curriculum subjects including mathematics, science, design and technology, ICT and literacy. You will learn about research methodology and carry out an individual creative project in your workplace. In addition, the assessment of children's learning and further educational issues will be studied.
Course Assessment Method
You will complete 2 assignments each term. There are no exams. The course lasts for two years and in total you will be assessed in 12 modules.
