3. Entry requirements You will be expected to sit an English and Maths initial assessment prior to being accepted onto the course. This will be a computer based test to ensure that you will be able to cope with the demands of the course and have a good level of maths and English to support children as they learn in school. Please see brochure for Initial Assessment dates. There is also a writing task to complete to assess your suitability for the course. You must be Level 2 or working towards Level 2 in your Initial Assessment to enrol on the course. Initial Assessment is conducted to ensure that this is the right course for you and where required additional support can be put in place to help you succeed. If you are unsuccessful in your Initial Assessment, guidance will be given to you regarding a more suitable course. B) Entry requirements: Successful completion of the initial assessment. C) A work placement of a minimum of 6 hours per week for a period of up to a year in Year 1 or above. This must be commenced before the start of the course and learners should hold a current DBS certificate (this can be arranged through the college). Assessment method A variety of teaching strategies will be used, e.g. class discussion, tutor-led sessions, research projects, paired work and group work.
